On September 11, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai (India) will host the international opening of the exhibition of the project “BRICS Universe “, which will include photos of UNESCO Creative Cities located in the BRICS countries, made on the ground and from space.
The photo exhibition “BRICS Universe ” is unique photographs taken by the Heroes of the Russian Federation, pilot-cosmonauts Sergei Kud-Sverchkov and Ivan Wagner from the International Space Station, as well as photographers on the ground and representing the UNESCO Creative Cities of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. – their colours, feelings, secrets, events, heritage, the grandeur of nature. In total, 48 Russian and 41 foreign photographers from the BRICS countries are involved in the project.
In addition to the opportunity to get acquainted with the photographs themselves, the opening ceremony will be included in a meeting with the Hero of the Russian Federation, pilot-cosmonaut, and project participant Sergei Kud-Sverchkov.
In addition to the presentation of photo projects, Sergey Kud-Sverchkov reveals what it is like to see from the height of orbit what we observe from Earth, and some sensations of human sensations in outer space, visitors could ask the cosmonaut questions and get an autograph. The cosmonaut will also bring a short film shot on the International Space Station (ISS).
The grand opening of the first exhibition took place on February 1 at the Cosmonautics Museum in Moscow, after which it continued its journey, opening in St. Petersburg (Russia), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Kargopol (Russia), Beijing (China), Nizhny Novgorod and Ulyanovsk (Russia). At the moment, the exhibition has been visited by about 200,000 people, but this is not the limit, because, after Mumbai, it is already expected in Cape Town (South Africa) and Kazan (Russia).
The implementation of the BRICS Universe project became possible thanks to the partnership of the Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium named after G.M. Grechko, the Roscosmos State Corporation, the Creative Industries Fund of the Ulyanovsk Region and the Project Office for the Development of Youth Cooperation “Russia – BRICS” with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. The project, implemented under the auspices of the Committee of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, was included in the Action Plan of Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship in 2024, the operator of which is the Roscongress Foundation.
